I need image editing software

I've created two separate images in a text editor by manually altering the binary of an image file. It's an absolute pain, and I hate doing it. If you know any extremely lightweight image editing tools on Linux that are extremely similar to MS Paint, please let me know.

On a related note, natechoe.dev has an 88x31 button now! It changes colors every day, just like the natechoe.dev favicon; that's why I had to use a text editor, I needed full control over the image format.

The color of the button changes every day, so if you host it on your own server it will slowly get out of sync.
